RF and DFM under a tight enclosure
A compact electronic product that had to feel simple in the hand while hiding a dense combination of power, mechanical constraint, firmware and a companion application.

Challenge
Bring a consumer device from industrial-design intent to an engineering article that can be discussed with a manufacturer — including the unglamorous electrical and firmware work that decides whether the object is a product or a prototype.
Engineering problem
Consumer electronics is a packaging problem and a systems problem at once. Antenna keep-outs, thermal, DFM, button feel, charge behaviour, LED language, and a firmware state machine that will not embarrass the brand in the field.
Architecture
- 01
Electronics architecture under tight mechanical and cost envelopes
- 02
PCB layout with RF, power and EMC treated as design inputs
- 03
Firmware for bring-up, user-facing states, charging and diagnostics
- 04
Companion application for setup and ownership, with a restrained feature set
- 05
Test points, fixtures and a factory programming story sketched before tooling
- 06
A revision plan that does not require a new cloud religion for every SKU

Process
Architect with mechanical and sourcing constraints in the room. Prototype the electrical and RF risks. Engineer toward a BOM and a test plan a factory can argue with.
Outcome type
A device program structured for the jump from engineering samples to production conversation. Representative of Avarix’s consumer-electronics muscle — not a stand-in for a famous brand.
