Offline field capture with exception queues
A logistics workflow product spanning mobile capture in the field and a desktop operations picture — designed around exception handling, not happy-path screenshots.

Challenge
A shipper needed software that could absorb messy reality: late scans, partial loads, offline yards, and staff who will not babysit a fragile UI.
Engineering problem
Logistics software fails at the edges. The engineering problem was a resilient domain model, sync that does not corrupt, role-aware interfaces, and integrations that will not collapse when a partner API blinks.
Architecture
- 01
Domain model for shipments, events, locations and exceptions
- 02
Mobile application for capture with offline-first behaviour
- 03
Operations console for planning, exception queues and audit
- 04
API layer for partners, EDI-adjacent flows and internal services
- 05
Observability on the flows that money actually depends on
- 06
A release practice that can ship in slices without stranding field users

Process
Discover on the floor, not only in workshops. Define the exception vocabulary. Architect sync and identity. Prototype the offline path. Engineer the operational console as seriously as the mobile app.
Outcome type
An application architecture that treats logistics as an operational system with failure modes. Presented as a capability pattern for field-plus-HQ products.
